“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” – Wayne Dyer
This quote has resonated with me the entire past twelve months and continues to hit close to home. I’ll be the first to tell you the transition to motherhood isn’t just rainbows and butterflies. It’s funny because people who see what I post on social media say things like ‘you’ve never looked happier’ and I am just over here laughing. Not that I am NOT happy but guys, it’s a massive change to the life I knew for the past decade. I’ve had a lot of weak moments, but there are a few things I want to share with you that helped me feel like myself again. If you are going through a tough phase in life, I think this can apply to any situation:
- Seek out things that make you happy. If you follow me on social media you might have seen me getting back at the gym; I NEED to be active to find some sense of normalcy.
- Focus on your health. I know when you’re going through something difficult, health isn’t always at top of mind, but if you can implement one healthy thing for yourself each day it can help change your outlook on life.
- Get outside. Go for a walk; fresh air can seriously clear your headspace!
- Meditate. I’m finally able to pray again (if you know what I mean) and it just feels so comforting to bow down. Any sort of meditation is healthy, even if it is just for a minute or two a day.
I hope you guys enjoyed me keeping it real with you and can use some of the tips I’ve found helpful above.
